Case Study: Service

The Challenge:

An engineer specified a DVD recorder used to record activities in the combat theatre with high-tech surveillance systems. The system identified by the engineer was made obsolete by the manufacturer years earlier but was written into the spec from when the system was first developed and not updated on this recent requirement. After a week of intense global search Action’s procurement team identified perhaps the very last 10 remaining of this specific DVD recorder located in the warehouse of an obscure distributor just outside a major city in Canada. Understanding that these units needed to be delivered to the drop center within four days as part of a major spares program going overseas, the Action staff needed to react quickly.

Going far and beyond.

The Solution:

Action deployed a representative to drive 12 hours overnight arriving before the distribution center opened.
Although the requirement only requested 5 units, Action procured all 10 in the event that more would be needed in the future. All units were shipped across the border by next day delivery to Action’s facility for detailed quality assurance inspection before being processed as part of an overall consolidation. They were then delivered to the customer in time to make the transport, leaving base for its overseas use and surveillance.
